My World in Pictures

A camera has never been on my shopping list and I thought it won’t be until I begged (mum’s correction: borrowed/asked) a neighbour to give me his for a few days. I was hooked already and found photography so much fun.

Here are some of my masterpieces, yeah right!

“A bald girl brags about her sister’s hair.”
–Iraqi Saying –

All the trees in our garden, though functional for cooking, look ugly. The gardener who used to take care of them was displaced and they were all abandoned, because none of my family is so keen on taxing chores. So I have no tree to show off but this marvelous palm tree next door. I just love it!

This used to be a real tree. Back in its heyday, I used to climb and take risks of falling or having my body scratched just to have as much of this round smelly fruit we call nabug. The tree is dead now :(

And these are Mum’s planters, I wonder how she managed to keep them alive!

This is our garden faucet, but it hadn’t seen water when I shot this picture.

The most treasured item of the lot. It was a big challenge for me to learn how to run one of these and thank goodness I don’t have to listen to stepdad complain about his backache, I can do it nice and easy.

Looks messy and dusty, but I love them when they’re full of petrol.

This is stepdad’s saw, it has been hanging on this tree for God knows how many years, never once was it used.

No this is not spaghetti! Thanks to this clutter of wires, I’m able to have cold water, access to the internet, charge my mobile phone, and maybe a nap under the noisy fan.

There’s nothing I like more than a royal breakfast, instant coffee and cheese, in the front yard, life without workplaces is good after all.

And finally I should thank my friend Josh who says I ace all professional photographers :D and created this site for me

Camera back to its rightful owner, maku pics :( :( :( besides the street is off-limit, it would be too boring to snap the same photos over and over again.

This is really great. When you (Iraqis) show us pictures of the horrors and deaths that are taking place in Baghdad it's good for us in the rest of the world because our media won't show us such things. This is well known. But the media also doesn't show us pictures that describe everyday life in Baghdad. I love seeing pictures of your plants. Please give your trees some love and attention for me!
