The Branch is Blooming
The world is plagued by stereotypes and somebody has to do something to stop them. Thanks to TV and cyberspace, the Iraqi people have been portrayed as cannibals, decapitation maniacs, fanatics, looters, you name it. Yet, thanks to the blogosphere, a different face of Iraqis has emerged. And thanks to Luke Skinner, the witty Aussie poet, journalist, blogger and according to ĒL DELILÂH , Mother Duck of Iraqi bloggers, he tried to bring the latter under one umbrella, the Olivebranch Network. With the creation of this fine site, Luke Skinner proved to have aced all stereotypes busters.
What he did was introduce the well educated Iraqis, who turned out to be human beings just like any other people one might bump into in the streets of Europe, the US or Australia with only one major difference among others; their country happened to be blacklisted by the Bush Administration.
January 25 marks the creation of a marvelous network comprising of a considerable number of Iraqi bloggers, who made their fingertips paint an inside picture of Iraq, a picture not so many people were able to see.
I was not keen on online reading, but when it comes to OB I think it's worth ravaging my eyesight. Log on and see for yourself.
